Reiki is a traditional Japanese word meaning universal life essence. A Reiki session is a gentle and non-invasive technique which can facilitate stress reduction and relaxation, support effective immune, function, enhance the body’s self-healing mechanisms, and replenish and nurture vitality.It can prove beneficial in resolving physical disorders, nervous conditions, emotional issues, stress reduction and help nurture a greater sense of balance, well-being, and wholeness in one’s life.
During a Reiki session, the recipient will lie comfortably on a table fully clothed. The practitioner’s hands may work slightly above the body in the energy field or gently lying on the body. The practitioner will set an intention for healing and the energy is channeled through the practitioner’s hands into the recipient. The energy does not come from the practitioner, rather through the practitioner as a process called attunement received in Reiki training allows the practitioner to channel the energy. The practitioner uses a series of hand placements, such as above or on the head, shoulders, back, chest, stomach, and limbs.
Reiki has steadily been gaining support in the medical community and is being used in medical centers, cancer centers, and hospices all over the world. Reiki is an effective compliment for conventional medicine and has no contraindications for any illness or medication.
